The Day of Surgery

The Day of Surgery

On the day of surgery, please arrive between 8:00 AM and 8:30 AM to admit your pet. During the admission process, we will:

  • Ask a few questions about your pet’s health.
  • Require you to sign an anesthetic consent form, which outlines the potential risks associated with anesthesia and surgery.

While every effort is made to ensure the safety and health of your pet, it’s important to understand that no procedure is entirely without risk. If you have concerns or would like more information about the process or potential complications, we encourage you to reach out—we’re here to help.

Fees

All fees for the procedure must be paid on the day of surgery before your pet is discharged.

Pet Pick-Up

When you pick up your pet, they may still be groggy or tired from the anesthesia. To ensure their comfort and safety:

  • Transport them home by vehicle, as they may not be ready to walk.

Keep them confined in a warm, quiet place to rest overnight as they recover.

Patient Discharge

When your pet is discharged, one of our veterinary nurses will provide detailed discharge instructions, both in person and via email. During this time, you’ll have the opportunity to ask any questions about your pet’s care.

At discharge, the nurse will also:

  • Schedule a follow-up appointment to check your pet’s wound and remove stitches if necessary.
  • Provide any prescribed medications along with clear instructions on how and when to administer them.

If you have any concerns once you’re home, don’t hesitate to contact us—we’re here to support you every step of the way.
